Cover Letter Explaining Why I Fit
Dear Sir or Madam,
I saw your ad on Monster.com for an Internet Business Development Analyst and would like to be considered for the job. My background in internet development and marketing qualify me to make a strong contribution to JC Whitney. My personal fascination with the new ways that the internet enables people to inform and help each other will allow me to contribute with excellence.
Though I have been running the internet presence for employers and clients since the mid-nineties, the first time I used an affiliate program was with Commission Junction when it was a new company. I was consulting for a company that sold housewares and gift items to women and teenage girls. We started from zero and built the network to around 3500 affiliates. It was a great success.
Because I am also a programmer, I created a system of easily customizable landing pages and made their traffic reporting system account for their affiliate activity. I also devised a 'viral' marketing effort in the form of an email game that girls could play that brought a huge number of girls to the site.
These days, in addition to my continued interest in affiliate marketing, I am interested in the blog/podcast phenomenon and RSS aggregators. An information channel where a potential customer installs special software and then subscribes, ie, invites, a stream of product and industry information is almost too good to be true. Even better, bloggers and podcasters are dying for affiliations that will help make them money. It is a wide open channel. I have to believe that there is already automobile-oriented activity and room for more to be developed.
I have spent my career involved in technology, sales and marketing. My experiences as an internet developer and marketing consultant will be very useful at JC Whitney. I also have a strong record of executing large projects. My communication skills are excellent and I am a good business analyst. I am, since you mentioned it in your ad, an advanced Excel user (my last Excel project was a complete model of a business that printed on fourteen pages).
I am confident that I can be very useful to JC Whitney, especially in this fascinating job.
I hope that this information has made you interested in knowing more. Please take a look at my resume at

I look forward to an opportunity to discuss this further.
Best Regards, TQ White I
