Dear Type A People,
I deeply appreciate the opportunity to write you to apply for a job as project manager at Type A. Your website and the process it suggests, has allowed me to have a fun morning preparing this package for you. I have, to the best of my ability, "meticulously crafted" a cover letter. Well, actually I 'crafted' a special page. Here, I just want to let you know that I like the sound of Type A and think that my skills will be useful to you.
I have a particularly varied career. I started as a computer engineer, spent many years in sales and marketing, became a serious business owner and am presently a freelance developer of sophisticated website database applications. My mindset is equally varied. I love science but am a voracious reader of all sorts of literature. Among my technical friends, I am known as 'der bugmeister' because I can track the hard ones down better than anyone, but I have gotten many compliments through the years on the quality and wit of my ad copy. I built much of my success on writing technical analysis and effective project management.
That doesn't add up to a job description that any normal company would write and I have expected to compromise since I decided to look for a job. Until, of course, I found Type A on Craig's List. I am heartened by the respect shown to people on your website and the clear, loving appreciation of their individuality. I am encouraged by the fact that you don't spend much web space talking about technology. I believe it is all about ideas and, apparently, so do you.
I created a special page (here) to supplement my resume and to tell you about some of the stories that make me who I am and of which I am proud. I think my career is all about strategy and getting complicated things done. Others think that I should be a teacher. Whichever side is right, they are things that would be valuable at Type A.
I hope you will want to talk further and look forward to your call.
Best Regards,
TQ White II
