Dear Citrix,
Consulting with a colleague about my job hunt, we had the bright idea to look at companies whose technology was admirable. Based on a high regard for GoToMyPC and GoToMeeting, I tracked down the Citrix website. Further examination confirmed a broad range of excellent technology and, much to my delight, a job listing in the Chicago area.
The job I am applying for is 'Sales Engineer - Gateways'. Although I have a varied career with periods in Fortune 100 R&D (R.R. Donnelley & Sons), business startups (Restorion, Laser Colour) and consulting, my favorite period was working for international companies (Scitex, Krause America, International Paper) as a sales engineer helping to sell computerized printing systems to the graphic arts industry.
During that time, I was responsible for analyzing customer needs, developing proposals and making presentations to groups ranging from the local production unit to the boards of directors of national corporations. I became expert in developing return on investment analysis, defining revised production/integration practices, helping customers through the decision process and then insuring a smooth implementation.
I have worked trade shows supporting a variety of products and have been the lead project manager in the creation and implementation of the trade show presence for one of my employers (Krause America). I have had substantial training in consultative selling, have excellent written and verbal communication skills (as well as using the web), and work well in a sales team.
I believe it is fair to say that the people, sales and management, with whom I worked in those jobs would tell you that I was a superb sales engineer, versatile, helpful and smart.
I thoroughly browsed the Citrix website and am certain that I could apply these skills effectively on behalf of Citrix products and sales people.
I would very much like to have a chance to discuss this further.
Best Regards,
TQ White II
