Dear Cars.com,
I found your ad for a on Craig's List and would like to be considered for the job. Your job description, it seems to me, describes a technically-oriented generalist with a will to win. It appears that you are looking for an imaginative person with an entrepreurial spirit and the sensitivity to understand client needs and satisfy them. As an experienced technical professional with a strong record of satisfying customers with unique and competent web applications, I am confident that I am the man for the job.
For a client some years ago, I devised an effective sales strategy that supported co-branded websites for distribution partners. I wrote an 'email merge' application in response to their need to be able to communicate with their customers for ongoing sales and relationship purposes. For another client, I devised a self-provisioning software distribution system that was a big success.
In addition to strong technical skills, I have a great deal of experience working with customers to satisfy their needs. I managed a team of technical sales support specialists that were responsible for maintaining the relationship between my employer and our large, national accounts. For them, as for you, there was a strong need for accountability in all aspects of the business. In addition to the normal sorts of project and activity reporting, I had many occasions where I made presentations to senior management of these large companies.
I have run businesses, worked in sales and marketing, done market research for technical products and been a project manager for efforts ranging from day-to-day management to large software projects that took a couple of years to accomplish. I am, by nature, inclined toward collaboration and enjoy helping co-workers achieve goals.
The idea of DealerCenter is interesting to me. Your ad says, "lead designer, visionary and implementer%quot; for it. That phrase is absolutely the one that defines the best successes of my career. I have no doubt that I can make a similar contribution to Cars.com DealerCenter.
I look forward to an opportunity to discuss this further.
Best Regards,
