Dear CDW,
I found your ad titled 'Senior E-Commerce Program Specialist: Web Site Optimizations' on Monster.com and would like to be considered for the job. I made my first online store in the late nineties. I have both programmed and managed online stores. More importantly, I have a great deal of experience working with client groups, receiving their input and moving forward in ways that are satisfactory to them and practical for the producing organization. I have acted as the lead analyst on many substantial projects as well as in ongoing support relationships. Combined with my deep understanding and experience with internet technology, I believe that these skills will allow me to do a good job for CDW.
Working for a large R&D group (at R.R. Donnelley & Sons), I was the go-to guy for difficult projects. During one period, I was the prime mover for several integration projects for large customers (Sears, JC Penney, Scientific American and others) that included consulting projects to upgrade their catalog production systems and software development to receive electronic catalog production data. At another job (Scitex), I was the lead in doing a comprehensive assessment and upgrade of a large customer (the former Wace Group) and its production facilities across the nation. My contributions to these projects were considered to be the key to successful progress and, critically, maintenance of excellent relationships among the organizations.
I have spent nearly the last decade dedicated to the internet and its use. I wrote my first online store in 1988 (for 2 Grrrls, Inc.) and took over its management a couple of years later, including procurement, inventory and so on. More recently, I have built and consulted on an online store for an exercise fitness company (SCW Fitness). In addition, I have developed affiliate networks, run keyword advertising campaigns, and other e-commerce marketing functions.
I am fully competent in all of the Microsoft Office technologies, in addition to being a fully web-enabled communicator. I have good communication skills and am comfortable conducting meetings at all levels, from detailed technical groups to the board of directors. My project management skills have been demonstrated in a thousand projects ranging from the hardest core engineering to building a new business unit.
More significantly, I think, is the fact that I am a smart, agreeable business manager. I understand e-commerce, the internet, and the current state of the art. I work well with others and like being part of a team. I believe that mutual success is the only way to accomplish important goals.
I look forward to the opportunity to discuss this further.
Best Regards,
TQ White II
